TweetIt will be the first Indonesian airport to have A380 flights. Despite Denpasar's equipment change, daily seats for sale won't surpass Emirates' previous record.
With Emirates Airbus A380 to Indonesia
Beginning on June 1st, one of Emirates' double daily Dubai-Denpasar flights will now use the A380. The two-class, 615-seat configuration will be deployed, replacing the 777-300ER.
Dubai to Denpasar: EK368; 03:25-16:35 (9h 10m); A380
Dubai to Denpasar: EK398, 09:10-22:20 (9h 10m); 777-300ER
Denpasar to Dubai: EK399, 00:05-05:05 (9h); 777-300ER
Denpasar to Dubai: EK369, 19:40-00:45+1 (9h 5m); A380
The 03:25 departure from the UAE hub corresponds to the carrier's biggest departure bank to the Far East.
22% more seats, but not a record
Across all airlines, there are up to five daily flights from the Middle East to Bali this summer. Emirates' shift to the A380 will give it a further advantage of sorts versus competitors while providing a considerable capacity boost.
Dubai-Denpasar will have 1,043 departing seats for sale daily, +22% more than before the change was made. It isn't even more because it also uses its highest-density 777-300ER on the leisure-heavy route. These have two classes and 428 seats.
Despite the very high density A380, daily capacity doesn't surpass the 1,200 available seats on some occasions in 2018 and 2019. This was when it served Denpasar, 4,653 miles (7,489 km) from Dubai, triple daily.
49th airport to see Emirates' A380s
As of March 24th and subject to change, 49 airports will see Emirates' A380s this summer. They are summarized below by country name.
Emirates to Denpasar
The Middle East giant inaugurated Dubai-Denpasar eight years ago, in June 2015. Analyzing booking data shows it carried approximately 390,000 Denpasar passengers in 2019, with a seat load factor of about 81%.
An estimated 86% of passengers transited Dubai to/from Denpasar. The UK was the most popular country, then the Netherlands, Germany, France, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Russia, US, and Spain.
At the airport level, Amsterdam over Dubai to/from Denpasar was the leading origin and destination, followed by Gatwick, Paris CDG, Manchester, Heathrow, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, Cairo, Prague, and Munich.
