TweetMore new destinations will follow in the coming weeks, which means that the budget subsidiary of KLM will fly to more than 90 destinations in Europe and North Africa this summer.
The first flight to Bergamo was waved goodbye by the CEO of Rotterdam The Hague Airport, Ron Louwerse and the CEO of Transavia, Marcel de Nooijer. The airline reports that it is prepared for the start of the new summer season. Transavia will continue to expand the network in the near future.
The new destination will be Bilbao from Eindhoven on April 1, Ponta Delgada (the Azores) from Schiphol from April 24, Bastia (Corsica) on April 22 and Kayseri from Rotterdam on June 13. Next summer, Transavia will fly almost as much as before the corona crisis.
"Since January, we have seen a strong increase in bookings, particularly to destinations such as Spain, Italy, Portugal and the Greek islands,"
says De Nooijer.
Further investments
Preparations for the summer season are in full swing and the first flights to new destinations are getting some extra attention.
"That is extra special this year because we flew much less in the past two years and we can now look to the future with confidence,"
De Nooijer continues.
Transavia is therefore also investing further in its fleet.
"With the choice of the Airbus A320neo and A321neo, we are entering a new phase in which we are also taking significant steps in making flying more sustainable."
The passengers on board flight HV 6375 to Bergamo were honored and welcomed on board via a 'green carpet'. They also received a gift on board and the aircraft and its passengers were welcomed with a water salute at Bergamo airport.
